I saw both of those in 35mm red & blue 3d as well a couple years ago!

But you know what? Creature did NOT use anaglyphic (red and blue) glasses on its original release. It used polarized glasses where the lenses just had a very slight gray tint. Basically the same exact thing they use today. And apparently it was even better than the anaglyphic 3d.

Don't know about how It Came From Outer Space was originally released. Both technologies existed back then. Anaglyphic 3d was just cheaper and not as good as polarized 3d. So modern 3d didn't really do anything new... Until this 48fps stuff anyway.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Bob Furmanek's has all the information you could possibly want on 3-D film exhibition from the classic era.

I saw "Creature" in 3D last year in Hollywood with Julie Adams in house (probably one of the nicest celebrities I've ever met). And it was interesting watching that movie in 3D (and on the big screen), for the first time.

As for DVD purchases, it was the kid in me that made me buy it, but I got the blu-ray of The Year Without a Santa Claus, which was my favorite of the Rankin /Bass holiday specials and one that doesn't get much play on the networks anymore. And on the special features, to my great surprise was a segment on stop-motion with the Chiodo brothers and Ray Harryhausen! :th-up: It even featured clips from "The Lost World" and "King Kong". A great education regarding this artform (and one that should be watched for any idiots who still think this is claymation).

Somehow, someway I always end up missing "A Year Without a Santa Claus" if it is indeed playing on T.V.

Yes, "Nestor the Long-Eared Donkey" has virtually disappeared, but fortunately this blu-ray does contain it, along with "Rudolph's Shiny New Year". So in essence, I got three for the price of one (and a great stop-motion special feature to boot!).

I saw it in 3D also, with . Unfortunately the 3D didn't work very well for me, but then it almost never does. My eyes suck.

She's apparently a very nice person, but yeah, I don't know if I'd want to see CFTBL with horror fans around her. Some horror fans are nice people (see Mouthforwar) but others fit the stereotype of angry, socially awkward males with issues relating to women properly. Honestly, once I left the horror community I've never looked back. I feel happier inside.

I'll watch the old stuff, and I do have some favorites of the 80s still, but it's not a genre I like to dwell in. I do feel that some of the stuff you watch rubs off on you (at least for me, some people might be able to watch or listen to anything and remain disconnected from it, but I think the whole point of art is for you to injest it into yourself).
