Boycotting is something you do to a big company/corporation/entity to show them you are sick of them thinking they are bigger and better than you. Boycotting something like the Star Wars blu-rays MAKES SENSE.
Boycotting MB doesn't make sense and sends the wrong message.
If you want to send a company like that a message, writing/petitioning them makes a LOT more sense.
But then, you'd have to actually do something, while boycotting requires zero effort.
That rule applies to just about anything...smaller companies are much more likely to see a mailbox full of letters or a petition with a few thousand signatures and go "woah, we need to fix this" while a boycott will make them think "we need to stop spending any money on this, because it's not worth it"
