Watched the R1 disc of G vs MG II last night and wow - are the colors wonky on it. They seem to be both cranked up and skewed toward the red/blue end of the spectrum (read: purple), with all the greens being muted. Pretty goofy looking. My, *ahem*, gray-market version of the R2 looks quite a bit better, color-wise at least. The R1 is nice and sharp, but those colors are a deal-breaker for me.

Yep, got my Destroyah today (Mon. 11/27). Looks good, but I forgot how bad the Madman 5.1 soundtracks are - yikes! Sounds like the old Simitar 5.1 tracks (and that ain't a compliment).

Still, can't beat the price. It's dual-layered, too.

I haven't got mine, but last week they stated it had been shipped, so I guess I can get mine any day. Are the 5.1 really that "bad"? The only remixed track I've heard from a Toho Godzilla DVD is the Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster one, and I thought it sounded great.

speaking of audio, they do have the original mono or stereo, etc. as appropriate in addition to remixed 5.1 tracks, right? I generally don't like "updated" soundtracks for older films. Though, it is nice when companies reproduce the vintage "surround" versions, such as recreating the 3 channel or 4 channel mixes of older movies... But DON'T add new sound effects!!

As I said, I don't have them, but as far as I know they have the original versions of the audio tracks included. Except most of the dubs don't (I'm assuming the Millennium series ones do have the 5.1 tracks, like on the Sony discs).

Personally I like having the 5.1 remixes in addition to the originals. And a correction to what I wrote in my last post, I've have copies of Toho's remixes for Return of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Biollante, and in my opinion they're FAR better than the originals. In comparison, the original tracks sound low and a bit muffled. But that's just my opinion. I'm not in favor of outright replacing audio tracks so it's good they keep the originals.

yeah, i guess i should've clarified. I'm not opposed to including additional tracks, the more options the better. But as you said, it's when the original track is not also available that i get upset.
