Directors compose films according to the frame size they feel best suits the production's vision, not for whatever television you bought.

And considering where we came from and where we're at in the last couple decades, having a little perspective on these things might actually bring some people peace of mind.

And if you think something looks better despite the fact that you are losing resolution, then I would call that unedumacated, yes. Unless you honestly prefer smeary glitz over actual clarity.

Toho Video was so enthusiastic about "restoring" all 28 of these films (including GINO) that they did so in less than a year. I wonder how they were able to screw up the color scheme of each film so thoroughly in such a short span of time.
