Why would anyone approve of a movie so dark (literally) that it becomes impossible to watch? I feel for those who have Zenith tv's or any others that have a darker tint to them. The settings may not adequately adjust the screen well enough to compensate.

My good friend Chris reviewed the 3D BD set for TK here's his review

So pretty much if you don't have a 3DTV/Projector setup the film is pointless. Pretty dissapointing if you ask me.

Pre-order cancelled. I don't have any 3D equipment, and can't afford any right now. I'll wait for a price drop or a better 2D transfer, whichever happens (first).

Eh.... The video sounds fine according to most professional sites. They admit its dark, but that that's the way it is. Gonna have to make your mind up yourselves fokes. Getting mine at Target.

I have two calibrated displays (a Panasonic plasma and a JVC projector) and plan on picking up the disc tomorrow if I have time. I'll report back here.

Those with plasmas will probably make out best, as black levels and contrast have always been LCD weak points.

Just curious, does anybody know which version they're picking up tomorrow?

I can't decide between the Walmart release with the cover I like a bit better or to go towards the Target one with the exclusive (but probably pointless) extra feature. 1st world problems

I'll probably be picking up the Target exclusive. Was really hoping to get a steelbook of this one. I remember hearing that Best But would have an exclusive steelbook but all I'm seeing on their site is the lame looking metalpak that everyone else seems to have.
Was really hoping to get my hands on the steelbook similar to Germany's release :(

I'm getting the 3D release from Wal-mart since I work there. I think we have it on sale for $24.99, BD/DVD/Digital is $19.99 and DVD is $14.99. Don't quote me on those prices as I'm not 100% sure.

I swear, what is it with the "other" board and petitions? They have a petition fetish, and it's getting pretty sad.

While I do agree that the current reviews/feedback of disc are indeed legit gripes (it seems like WB has really dropped the ball with this release in all facets), it seems like the ol' fall back response of "let's start a petition!" accomplishes nothing except for embarassing the fandom by making G fans look like entitled, whiney d-bags (There's even a petition being started by some over there for Bandai/Namco to make a Godzilla "fighter"...are you kidding me???! We're lucky they're even making *1* Godzilla game). If some fans would just have to balls to follow up their words and *gasp!* not buy something simply just because the name "Godzilla" is slapped on it, they could send a far stronger message to various companies than another stupid, useless petition.

But then again, the downside of that action could result in lower sales, creating less incentive for American companies to do anything with the Godzilla license, so it's damned if you do, damned if you don't. Oh well, that's life, and as the the ol' Rolling Stones song goes, "You can't always get what you want~~~~~~~!" That's just an unfortunate part of life that sadly today's "instant gratification" generation can't grasp. Can you imagine if today's fandom were around in the 90s, when you had to shell out some coin and hunt endlessly just to glimpse the Heisei films on sh*tty VHS tapes?

Crap, now I'm kind of wanting to buy this even though I know there will be a better version in less than a year.

Who has the best deal with the best exclusive content (or best packaging)? Oh, and I have no use for the 3D version unless it is like $1 more than the non-3D.

I was thinking about nabbing it when I get out of work. but honestly I might wait to see what everyone else says, especially about the 3D version. If the 3D version is lighter, I'l just go with that, even with the higher price mark up.

John I had my friend who reviewed the 3D version check in a non 3D player unfortunatly the disc won't play unless you have 3D equipment.

So here's a question: If you pop the 3D version into a PS3, but don't have a 3D TV, will it still ignore the 3D layer enhancement? And, assuming the 3D disc is brighter than the 2D disc, will the 3D Bluray still be lighter with the ignored 3D element?
