Question was of the rhetorical variety referring to MB's overall stock of the things, but it's neat to know they weren't all gone already. Someone was more than kind enough to hook me up with a copy but were the temptation there in person to get an official, legit version of this disc to stick in my Megalon case...

So after watching Godzilla vs Megalon and leaving the menuscreen on for like a half hour, does anyone else think its hilarious to watch the kaiju kick each other's ass to early 70's Jazz music? I wish I could put up random monitors around my apartment that just play random fight scenes to completely inappropriate music.

I can't stand (some) of the videos on Youtube with rock music. While some are pretty darn good and have some kind of connection between the music and Godzilla, there are others that leave me scratching my head in bewilderment and really stink.

So I finally got around to watching my GvsMegalon bluray last night and I noticed a couple of issues. First, I will start out and say that the picture quality IS better than the DVD. But it's not a huge difference. The most noticeable thing is the bluray handles the films grain structure much better than the DVD. That and it is noticeably sharper and more detailed. Bent unless you're comparing them side by side or just a totally anal A/V snob (like me), most people probably won't notice a big enough difference to care much.

Now on to the issues:

1. I noticed that in MANY of the cuts, you can see the top of another film frame at the bottom of the image. It's like the frames weren't lined up properly in the scanner. Each time this happens it's just a very quick flash for one frame so it's gone quickly. Buy it happens A LOT. Seriously.

This frame alignment issue at the cuts seems to be inherent in the transfer because it is present on both the DVD and blu ray.

2. What I consider a much more annoying issue is ONLY present on the blu ray. Because of that, I can only assume it's some sort of encoding error. It looks VERY much like the issue on the Ultra Q discs where there is some significant image ghosting. It almost looks like an interlacing error where the fields are out of sync, but it's not interlaced. Fortunately on Megalon it's not nearly as bad as on Ultra Q. It's really only visible when things are moving quite rapidly. But it makes for some odd, headache inducing strobe effect during the fight when there's a lot of very rapid cuts between different close ups of the monsters beating on each other.

Anyone else notice this issue?

Well thankfully I'm holding onto the bluray AND the DVD, since I was lucky enough to find the "whoops" version. 8)

I thought the picture quality was fairly good (better than the noise-filled Heisei and Millennium transfers), but yes: I did notice the ghosting in the final fight.
