Amazon has shipped out my copy of DAM and says it should be in my possession by tomorrow. Megalon should be mine by Monday.

OMG!! Mine is supposedly shipped and supposedly going to be here tomorrow. I'll believe it when I am watching the movie. Just becuase the disc says Godzilla vs Megalon, it doesn't mean that is actually what is on it.

Amazon emailed me last night around 1:30am to say that the estimated delivery date for Megalon would be September 18th or 19th. Then, around 6:30am,they sent another email stating that the delivery date is now September 9th. That'll be nice since G2K will be delivered that day too. Also, I checked my order status on the website, and they're now going to charge me the current and cheaper listing price. For what it's worth, I preordered in early July.

I think I'm about to pounce on the Fedex person that delivers both these disks. The ADV DAM dvd I have is almost unwatchable and obviously I don't have Megalon in my collection (other than VHS). It will be a glorious movie watching weekend. Then next week I get the Sony DVDs.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, the only positive I can say about Megalon is this disc completes my Godzilla collection.

I'm looking for a cleaner cut than the one I have of "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" in widescreen with the AIP dub, then my collection will be complete. I can't stand the Toho international dubs. They stink.

Other than the color being a little flat, the picture quality was pretty good for DAM. I wish it had the special features though. For $13 its a steal.

^If it's the same transfer as the first Blu-Ray then it's just too bright. Turn the brightness down on your TV and boost the color just a smidgin and it looks fantastic.

I've come to the conclusion that any price point, it is impossible to please this fandom on movie releases... Even the Criterion release with all its extras and special treatment came under fire...and Biollante which never even saw DVD but then got a budget Bluray release had its fair share of detractors...

The Biollante blu ray was not a good release though...

And I didn't think the Criterion release was worth the $40 Criterion wanted for it. For the $17 I wound up finding it at, totally worth it though.

I think the reason people complain so much, is that these are half-assed releases, which if they don't JUMP ON IMMEDIATELY, get pushed OOP and then wind up costing $50 or more later on...I think that's the root of the problem.

If you could just as readily get a Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster DVD as blu ray right now, I don't think the complaints would be as prevalent.

The problem with the Biollante BD is that it was Echo Bridge releasing it, and clearly they dropped the ball on it. Hell, they didn't even care enough to actually fix the black levels for US TVs.

Criterion's price was fair as it was like the price of every other Criterion release. Not to mention you technically got two movies on it, a brand new print that is superior to any other out there, even Toho's, and some nice bonus features.

ANd yeah, Ebirah is one BD and can be purchase any and everywhere.
