How did they lie persay? They said it's up to Edwards on how he wants to present it so maybe down the line he'll release a directors cut. If anything they where vague about how the deleted scenes would be shown they never promised us anything on the initial DVD/BD release.

There have been MANY interviews now where they DID say we'd be getting Akira Takarada's scene and other deleted scenes. One of them had them saying they were doing the interview while taking a break from working on the DVD. I usually wouldn't care so much,but after months of being told we'd get these scenes, it's pretty sh*tty not to have them on the disc.

Basically what I said: They told us there are deleted scenes (truth) and that we'd get to see them (lie) but not that there'd necessarily be an extended cut of the film with the deleted scenes restored (truth).

So, the people upset we're not getting an extended cut are getting upset over nothing...but still, we were lied to about getting to see deleted scenes. That's infuriating enough.

Anyway, I doubt a directors cut is coming soon. Edwards is knee deep in Star Wars right now.

That never confirmed it would be on the initial release. If anything we could interpret as there being more than one release on the way.

They aren't going to decide anything until they see how well this one is selling. Tull certainly wasn't implying a later edition. Those decisions aren't even thought of until the initial release is out there.

Given the six-week gap between the US and UK releases, I've gone ahead and pre-ordered the US one. It's disappointing that we're not getting the deleted scenes we expected, but I fear that anyone who's holding out for a more feature-rich edition will be waiting a long, long time (spoiler: probably forever). Edwards may have wanted, even expected, to do an extended cut. Unfortunately, the director is usually the last person to have a say on whether that happens, if they're consulted at all. Those decisions happen in a boardroom, accompanied by the furious clacking of calculators.

I've canceled my preorder on this. I'm going to just ask for it for Xmas so that when an eventual double dip comes out, I don't have to buy it again.

also, Chackie Chan and Johnnie To films aren't Hollywood productions. Godzilla 2014 is.

I think people need to forget about extras and worry about the transfer supposedly being so dark you can't see anything during the final battle.

Well, looking at other posts in the thread, the problem seems to reside with the digital copy and not necessarily the disc. But I guess we'll see (or won't see).
