Pre-ordered. I'm not overly bothered that it's just the colourised versions. Been very curious to see them anyway, and if I want to watch the episodes in black and white, I'll mute the colour on my TV, as was previously suggested.

It would take a lot to make me not buy ULTRA Q.

Disappointed that it's not the original B&W. I'll still buy it though, just because it's rare to get the whole series for cheap. I've never seen it at all, so just seeing it in some form will be cool.

A bit disappointed, but I looked up some color footage on Youtube and it's pretty well done. Nothing cooler than b&w, though.

Watched the colorized, dubbed episode out of curiosity and think the dubbing was actually pretty enjoyable. The colorization is fairly subtle and thoughtfully handled. So not too worried about the color. I haven't done a side by side comparison to the B&W since the only color samples I've seen are online and may suffer streaming compression, but I have a feeling some of the lighter grey tones might have flattened out. But again, hard to say from online video quality.

It would have been a sweet bonus if they could have landed the dub tracks, but I've nothing to complain about. It's completely amazing this is coming out on R1 at all.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

New blog post from August, now stating that the Shout release will be the original black and white version:

I suppose the only question this leaves is the quality of the masters that Shout have been given.

Great news. Also great that the episodes are being spread over a generous six discs. That'll do away with the compression issues found on the ULTRA SEVEN and (to a lesser extent) JOHNNY SOKKO sets.

HOWEVER - As much as I trust Mr. Ragone and his sources (as I always have), it's curious to observe Shout! telling everyone on Twitter who has been inquiring that they will be releasing the COLOUR episodes:

Could just be a case of muddling their early specifications. In my ideal world, the spread of six discs would mean both versions of each episode, but if it has to be one or the other, black and white please.

Time will tell, I suppose!
