I spoke to one of the folks from ADV last year, and he is retaining the rights to DESTROY ALL MONSTERS. How long? For another 14 years.

I'm not sure what to think about ADV holding onto the rights for another 14 years...

Hopefully the Legendary Pictures movie will propel a new quality release of Destroy All Monsters from ADV (perhaps even an HD release) in the next few years. I'd love to upgrade from my VHS copy someday.

So.....rumor has it that after Barugon, Shout! is going to double up the remaining films and release them all the same day (September 21th). If this is the case then I am very disappointed. I don't wan't double feature DVDs. I am more then happy to pay for individual releases, and I am very picky about my DVD art and lets face it, double features don't look all that attractive.

In addition, I was told that Gamera Super Monster IS NOT getting released, but instead getting released by Cinema Insomnia in a "Slime Lime Edition"on June 15th. And has absolutely DREADFUL cover art.

I wouldn't bother posting a rumor I was told, however, all of what I have said is already up for pre-order on Amazon so it sounds legit but I hope this is not the case. Shout! Factory has been doing such a phenomenal job with their Gamera releases, I would hate for them to mess it up by releasing the remaining films as double features and giving Gamera Super Monster the shaft in favor for YET ANOTHER MST3K wannabe commentary, which probably means, same terrible quality picture.

Please tell me this isn't so August!

I don't see how anybody can be upset about these movies getting doubled up for their releases. Sony released a triple-feature last year (The H-Man, Battle in Outer Space and Mothra) and it's easily one of the best home video releases of classic Toho sci-fi ever done in North America. Not to mention Classic Media's double-feature of Rodan and War of the Gargantuas with Bringing Godzilla Down to Size to boot.

Double-feature DVDs mean that we get more of them at the same time and get all of them sooner. This is a good thing.
