Fans of Japanese sci-fi (including the staff of SciFi Japan) have lots of interests beyond Japanese sci-fi. That's why most Godzilla/toku message boards like MZ have sections devoted to other topics.
We get sent a lot of press materials for all kinds of stuff. And whenever we get something that interests us and we think would interest our readers we run it. That's been SFJ's policy for years... go back and look at the site and you'll find articles on Disney movies, IRON MAN, TRANSFORMERS, British programs like PRIMEVAL, THE DARK KNIGHT and so on. An article like the TERMINATOR SALVATION DVD/Blu-ray news is certainly nothing we haven't done before.
Also, all the contributors to SFJ are volunteers. If they want to write about horror, sci-fi, fantasy, or animation I won't reject their contributions simply because they're not writing about a Japanese topic.
EDIT: I missed MFW's post where he explained it much more succinctly than I did.
