Well the Heisei series is coming to Blu-Ray. Biollante was released today in Japan, and the US and Japan share the same region codes when it comes to BR.

yeah, the blu rays should be fantastic. However, they won't include english subtitles.

If you need subtitles, you can't go wrong with the Madman region 4 dvds from australia. I've got a few of them & they're very nice. However, they are region 4 & PAL encoded. To play them in the U.S. (assuming that's where you are) you'll need a dvd player that is either region free or region hackable that also does PAL to NTSC conversion. Fortunately, a lot of the really cheap dvd players out there fit the bill. I have a cyberhome model (model 300 if i remember correctly) that was under $40, was easily hackable via a 4 digit code from the remote, and does the PAL conversion no problem. You'll just have to do a little internet searching to find one.

Lastly, there's the Hong Kong Region 3 discs. The biggest problem with these is the quality varies greatly. Some are nice anamorphic transfers (i have biollante and mothra '92) while others (such as G 84 and GvsKG i believe) are non-anamorphic, hazy, artifacted junk. but they do all have subtitles and are all NTSC, so if you're not interested in hunting down a cheapo dvd player, you can just burn copies on your computer, setting the region to 0 when you do, & then they'll play on any dvd player you've got.
