GMK (3) DVD set

Postby nathanpt2000 » Tue May 27, 2008 1:57 am

I was in J-Town here in San Francisco today and came across a GMK 3 DVD
set. It was marked 50% off of $120.00(!)

No English subs

Still might be interested though. Anyone here know what might be on the other 2 disks in that set.
This set has probably been discussed here before, but I didn't feel like searching all over. :?

Hmmm. maybe I'll go buy it tomorrow. Thanks guys 8-) 8-) 8-)

Those extras sound awesome. It would be $60 and the packaging seemed to be in perfect condition. J-town stores can be really overpriced so I wanted to check it out first.

OOOOOOH! "50% off of $120.00!"

My bad, I mis-read that! I thought $120 was the price after discount! Well, hell, get it get it get it! A very good deal that you won't find anywhere else.

I would've been happy to pick one up for you JimPV... and I might have bought one to put on ebay, but alas... only one.
It's so rare that I ever find a good deal on anything.

Can't wait to check it out :D

^I have to vouch what August said. He gave me the grand tour of Japantown in February and it is a great place. If I lived in SF, I'd definitely be hanging around there all the time. A write-up should be in the next G-FAN.

I would say we're in a recession, although so far it doesn't meet the traditional definition of a recession (two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth). I've been out of work since November (a direct result of the mortgage crisis) with only occasional independent contracting work.

The 1980 definition was as follows:

"A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose your job. A recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his."

Look guys...

I am not J-Town bashing. I LOVE J-town I spend a lot of time & money there and it's just about one of my favorite places in SF, especially as a serious G-Fan and collector. I bought your book there August even though it was much cheaper online, I just needed instant gratification.
The shops in Japantown still cannot compete with online prices... period.

You will sometimes find a good bargain... which I'm always looking for. Half the fun in collecting is seeking and finding what you desire at a good deal! That's the whole reason of asking about the GMK (at J-Town) here on this forum.

One example... recently at Japan Video:
I wanted the Ultraman season one DVD set.
They wanted $50.00... too much for me! I bought it NEW online for $28.00 shipped.
In my 12 years here, Japantown has managed to wrangle a few thousand
dollars from my wallet too. I will continue to search there for years to come too. During a recession, unfortunately, online prices will prevail. I will spend a bit more at a local shop, but not 30-50% more.
