The Beatles' "Let It Be" Vs. "Let It Be"

I am a MAJOR Beatles fan. No where near the level of Chapman or this one girl who goes to my school, but still a huge fan nonetheless.

I recently recieved a copy of Let It Be... Naked for my birthday and have been listening it to it quite a bit since then (along with Hard Day's Night and Help! ^_^).

For those of you who don't know, or need a refresh, Let It Be... Naked is the stripped down version of the original Let It Be. The original (which I've had for some time now) was the result of a long and in-depth project which I shan't delve into right now, just to say that the resulting music was made into an album produced by Phil Spector. Spector really screwed around with this music, slowing stuff down, adding lush orchestrations, choruses, etc.

Recently (last year, wasn't it?), a new version of this album was made public. Let It Be... Naked is basically what the album was originally intended to be. It strips away all of Spector's modifications and leaves us with just the original recordings, which have been restored to the point of sounding like the Four are playing right next to you.

IMHO, Let It Be... Naked is far better than the original 1969 release (not stopping me from listening to both, LoL ).

But what are your opinions??? :?:

Well, you see, i doubt Naked was EXACTLY how the beatles intended it. I believe it is paul mccartney's super ego claiming it was.

Anyway, its a tough call. Honestly, Let it Be is one of my LEAST favorite albums by the Beatles. I prefer White, Revolver, and my favorite RUBBER SOUL.

I think I would choose 1969. But I will change my mind next time I hear Naked, and back next time I here original...

True, I think John preferred Spector's version. But I still like hearing the recording sessions with nothing extra added.

Oh, and I think this is probably in the wrong section... General was probably the place to put it now that I think about it... >_<

i like to refer to the new release as the "de-spectorized" version :) but i haven't heard the whole thing yet.
