I honestly don't see how Godzilla is "light years" beyond any Ultra foe out there. When you come right down to it, can you give me an example of what Godzilla has in his arsenal that at least one Ultra foe didn't have at one time? Breath weapon? A whole load of kaiju have that. Brute strength? Powerhouses like Red-King are arguably stronger than Godzilla. Regeneration? Baltan had regeneration (And super-speed, illusion creation, explosive lasers, ninja martial arts, and was STILL whupped).

Look at Gudis the second, or Gatanozoa. If you're going to tell me, with a straight face, that Godzilla was more of a threat than those two, I can't help it if I bust into laughter. Vacuumon ate stars, Zetton fired trillion-degree fireballs, Bulton could alter reality. Hell, Geronimon was the actual "king of monsters", and could ressurect fallen kaiju to serve him.

Originally I was referring to the original Ultraman for this fight, but since Megaloman brought it up, yes, Ultraseven had no preset time limit.

Ultraman Leo has the distinction of punching a hole through a powerhouse of a monster (seriously, a solid cylinder of flesh popped out), decapitating it with a sword that he pulled out of mid air, and THEN blowing it up. Ultraman Dyna had a ridiculous number of abilities at his disposal, including a beam that could very well have destroyed cities. I love Godzilla and Gamera, but when it comes to most Ultras, those two simply "run of the mill" monsters, differing very little from the norm.

Godzilla and Gamera may be among the strongest kaiju in their respective universes, but then again, monsters aren't quite as prolific as they are in Ultraman settings.

Also, Godzilla lost to a moth, I don't see why he couldn't lose to a cosmically-powered giant superhero. :P

Mothra is much more than a "Moth." She/he/it is more of a god-like deity. And I would agree with David about Ultra Seven having a much better chance against Godzilla or Gamera because of the absence of the three-minute rule.

Call it a bias on my part but, yes, I do see Godzilla--and most of his Toho brethren--as superior to any Ultra-kaiju. I guess that's the main problem with these kinds of discussions. One tends to throw their biases into the discussion. That's okay, really. It's what makes us fans of certain characters.

Decimator, what you really should ask yourself is this: Could Ultraman really beat Godzilla or Gamera in 3 minutes? Because that's what it really comes down to. I just don't see it happening. If you think he can, that's cool. I guess any Kaiju or Ultra can win any given fight. It's all subject to the writer's pen.

Original Ultraman vs. Original Gamera- Ultraman..... easily.

And since we've already went off topic with this with the whole Godzilla debate, here's my take: Ultraman vs. Godzilla- depending on which Godzilla, the answer differs. I think GFW and Hesei Godzillas would give him a run for his money, but Showa and any of the Millenium Gojis don't stand much of a chance at all.
