I know that TAPS is a real organization with branches all over the country. A friend of a friend actually works for the TAPS Michigan branch, so what they do is NOT just made for TV nonsense.

I, too, used to watch show regularly. But the light tower episode was pretty hard to top. Plus it used to be that they never believed a house was actually haunted, just sometimes they found things they couldn't explain.
Now they always conclude that the place they just investigated is haunted based on a single EVP.
They put way to much stock in EVPs. They find them so often I have to question their significance.

I've no real opinion of the show, Myself (Other than the "Cloaked Figure in what was it, Shawshank Prison? - I swear I saw sneakers on it's feet)

Mrs. X-Ray, on the other hand is a Fan.

Regarding Ultra's comment on the Group conversations seeming Staged..
I'm thinking that might be a case of it Being Staged.

Anyone who's watched the "making of" (filler) specials on some of these reality shows, like Dirty Jobs has seen them do several takes of the same "spontaneous" interview..
This is just to get a Clear, Understandable & Flub Free explanation of what they're doing. (tell me you've never messed up a word or sentence in normal everyday talking)

I.E. they may have the conversation off camera (or on camera and flubbed it) and then re-create that conversation for Clarity's sake.
