Why are there no anime Godzilla series?

It seems like Toho would've tried to push Godzilla into the anime territory, seeing's how often times Godzilla and anime are intertwined (anime conventions, overall G-fandom). I think that it could be done very well. I always thought that GXMG and Tokyo SOS felt quite like an anime show brought to life. They could make a mini-series based off of certain sagas, some showing the adventures of Showa's super-hero-like Godzilla, others showing Junior's run-in with the military after his father's death.

I think that Toho should at least try it once with a three-part mini-series, just to test the water. If it's a flop, then at least it was a try at something new, but if it were to be a success...

I'd be interested in a Godzilla anime. It could work well, one only needs to look at the Godzilla toon [based on G98] to see the possibilities.

I agree, it sounds cool, the only problem I see is to how portray Godzilla, it would be:

Hero Godzilla: like the 70's version, pretty much was like the anime series at the time, or maybe like the new Mazinkaiser ovas.

54 Godzilla: an Ova featuring the old Godzilla would be cool, but serious

Heisei Godzilla: Miki on anime!!

MireGoji series and/or Kiryu Saga or even the return of GMK Godzilla

Final wars made anime, but this time better writen.

a new Godzilla history that has a bit of everything.

Unless ubber-fans come and scream to the heavens that anime Godzilla would ruin the franchise, I think it would be cool.

I think I mentioned this in a Godzilla anime-related thread possibly last year, before MZ went down for the summer, but anyway, I figured that if there were a Godzilla anime, they should include some of the humans from the Millennium series. I mean, let's face it, a lot of them do tick the boxes for anime characters:

Goofy but loveable scientist: Shinoda (G2K), Miyasaka (G2K), Kudo (GxM) and Yuhara (GxMG)
Goofy but loveable technician: Chujo (Tokyo SOS)
Precocious kid: Io (G2K), Sara (GxMG) and that kid from GxM
Superhuman pretty boy: Ozaki (GFW)
Super-hot female pilot: Akane (GxMG) and Azusa (Tokyo SOS)
Tough commanders: Kiriko (GxM) and Captain Gordon (GFW)
Rival team-mate: Hayama (GxMG), Akiba (Tokyo SOS) and Kazama (GFW)
Intrepid Reporters: Yuki (G2K) and Yuri (GMK)
Hot female scientist: Mayumi (GFW)
Scheming beuracrat: Katagiri (G2K)
Wise old guys: Isayama (GMK) and Shin'ichi Chujo (Tokyo SOS)
Evil nutcase: X-Seijin (GFW)

After some hard thinking, I've decided to change my stance to say that if they could do a good job in such a venture of making an anime based on Godzilla then go for it.
