Harmony Gold continues to squeeze blood from the long dead corpse of Robotech. It's so depressing. They were months away from the liscence expiring giving Macross fans false hopes for some official merch and media releases in the U.S... only for them to renew again.....Ugh...

Yeah, I'm not happy with this at all.
However it is kinda interesting that The Sentinels is included, since that has never seen a DVD/Blu-Ray release (that I know of).

Actually it has, and I have it. In Robotech's very first DVD release (2001), they were released in waves of 2 DVD volumes, and a 3rd DVD with Bonus content thus making 3 packs (or you could purchase them individually without the bonus dvd)

The 3rd set (featuring volumes 5&6, and bonus dvd #3), which finished the Macross Saga had the Sentinels film on it. I bought it just for this purpose, and it is the only bonus DVD of the Robotech series I ever cared to get for that very reason.

I don't know how many times Robotech has been released on DVD in the last 20 years, but I'd say at least 4 or 5. I'm surprised *Sentinels* was never released after the very first one, I thought bonus content would be duplicated in perpetuity.

Also of note, the first release has the original TV broadcast opening/closing credits, as opposed to the Saga Specific ones that I see on streaming sites now. Not sure when that changed. Lastly, while Robotech has had many DVD releases, there has yet to be a BRD release that I am aware of.

Yeah, Sentinels was released as part of the Legacy collections. It was in the third Macross Saga volume. I've got the first three sets, along with the whole series in the Protoculture Collection too. That one has all the extras from the Legacy sets, including the Sentinels flick.
As far as I know, there were two more complete sets released after that - and those had some new extra features too - though I never picked up either of 'em. I was happy enough with the Protoculture Collection. Not to mention I'm glad I have ADV's Macross dvds too. (I certainly don't regret importing the Japanese blu rays for the original series and Do you Remember Love either)

Honestly, I'm past caring what Harmony Gold or Funimation does with the series now. I've long since come to terms with the notion we'll never see any sort of release for Macross and the various sequels in the west. Same goes for any proper HD release for Robotech either. I'd love a Bluray set of the original series including ADV's dub, (and the Mari Iijima commentaries) not to mention Macross 7 as well. but that ain't gonna happen. Like I said, I've got the dvds, the Japanese bds, so I'm good.
Even if HG had lost the licence, it would still be pretty difficult for anyone interested in picking up Macross in the US. According to this ANN article there's a fair bit of red tape on the Japanese side too. So if HG were out of the picture, there's no guarantee we'd eventually get any Macross over here.

I read about that set elsewhere, I guess at the time I was not interested in Robotech stuff.
I have the ADV DVDs of SDF Macross, so really no need for the Robotech version.
Never really liked the Southern Cross/Mospeda stuff.
