He will need a serious power boost if he wants to last more than 5 seconds.
I mean at this point, Krillian could probably beat him up...

Man, I remember when I use to tape trade with people across the country and such to get videotapes of the DBZ TV episodes, TV Specials, and OVAs back in the 90s. And now, 25 years after DBZ first aired, we're still getting new movies. Awesome.

And here's Frieza's new transformation:
also Jaco the galactic patrolman appears and Master Roshi kicking butts.

Gotta say, despite the fact Freeza's new transformation is fairly underwhelming and I don't see any Super Saiyans, I'm pretty stoked about this. Freeza was my favorite villain and any addition to that storyline/mythology is welcome in my book.

I don't like the idea of Frieza having another power level. Didn't he destroy the Saiyans because he knew they had the potential to become stronger than him?

It's odd to me that Goku would be fighting ultra-powered Frieza in a non-super saiyan form.
Still the movies are non-canon fun so that's really all I ever look for. Frieza's new form is a tad underwhelming. DBZ mantra: if you want it to be serious, it has to turn gold.

The new films are canon. The reason Goku is fighting Freeza without his Super Saiyan form is pretty much explained in Battle of Gods.

They're moving a lot quicker on this one:

THat's because all of the contract issues were settled with BoG so all new DB movies from now on should come out quickly.
I can not wait until I get to hear more Chris Ayres Freeza.
And the movies became canon when Akira Toriyama started writing them with BoG. That is why BoG takes place 5 years after Boo's defeat.

So where the other DBZ movies written by someone other than Toriyama? I had no idea but that makes sense

I will say this, BoG made me wish Toei would just go ahead and do a brand new 100% accurate adaptation of the entire manga from start to finish of the series. I bet they could get through all 42 volumes in 200 episodes, especially when they get to the Z portion, since some of those fights should be no longer than an episode or two.

I'm entirely unfamiliar with the manga, but I can't imagine that over the course of however many hundreds of episodes, they didn't do everything that is in there, and if anything, just added to it.

^Isn't that what DBZ Kai is? Removing the filler?

So, I finally started re-watching Dragon Ball in its entirety. I'm almost into what Funimation calls Season 3 of Dragon Ball.
Wow, I forgot how much I loved this show. I'm even trying to find my old action figures (Found a Krillin, Super Buu, and Broly).
I also went and bought Figuarts of Krillin, Piccolo, and Android 18.....and Xenoverse...I have a problem.
Or I might if this becomes like the situation I found myself in when I rediscovered Transformers back in high school. (weeps)
Anyhow, I love this show. It's so much fun, and I can't imagine how great it's going to be to go through Dragon Ball Z.
I mean, I knew about Dragon Ball, but it was really the DBZ dub that got me into Dragon Ball. Although I have to admit, I never
watched GT (at the time I found out it wasn't based on the manga and turned my nose up at it) and I never caught all of the
movies...(Because they really weren't canon). So, this time I'm watching EVERYTHING.
I'm really excited for the new film, but I still need to check out Battle of Gods.

This movie just had the biggest 2015 opening weekend at the Japanese boxoffice. It came in at #1 with a 27% higher attendance level than Battle of Gods. It beat out Furious 7, also a new release this past weekend. I think it's safe to say we'll be seeing DBZ continue through more films in the future.
