So instead of doing a true mecha show, they decided to just make a fanservice show with homages to the mecha...

So as someone who has waited pretty much all his life for a kickass Super-Robot crossover (since the last one was done in the late 70's) & a fan of all things Super Robots... No we cant have that, but we can get this crap???

To be honest, I cant even stand to watch the clips long enough to try to figure out what they are wearing. Like every other Japanese franchise I like, this too is being ruined. I guess I can just watch and endless loop of this video until the insanity ends, or the world does.

I ain't got no complaints with Gunpla Builders :3 I'm getting a GM Sniper kit and a Kampfer because of that series!

They caused you to want to purchase a toy. Mission accomplished. I'm more interested in a compelling animated series than trying to sell toys. But then again, thats just me.

But most cartoons - especially the robot shows - are trying to sell you something, whether it's toys, comics, video games, novels, model kits or whatever. Some are more obvious than others, but ultimately they're out there to get you to buy stuff if you like the show. You can still have a really great show and have some merchandise attached to it. Just depends on how it's handled.

Now as for Toei's moe mecha show... honestly, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
On the one hand It looks like it could be silly fun - something akin to Go Nagai's CB Chara World - but at the same time I can't help but feel a little disheartened that we probably won't see a 'proper' old-fashioned monster-battling super robot show for who-knows-how long.
I certainly don't consider this thing to be some unholy abomination or affront to Nagai's xacred venerated works or anything - I just really miss my old monster-of-the-week robot shows, is all.
