I think that's a reasonable reaction.
I rewatched this last night and MAN, I love it SO MUCH. Between FLCL, Gurren Lagann, and now this, I'm pretty sure that Imaishi and company have pretty much cemented themselves as my favorite creative force in animation.

Cool Cool. I'll probably check it out. Gurren Laggan is my favorite anime of all time. I like the art style of this new show you posted so it's a no-brainer.

Found a place to watch it where I don't have to pay. I'll update this thread in the next couple of days when I finally see it.

Great first ep. Feel just a tiny bit sleezy from the fan service stuff BUT, the show is crazy, chaotic fun

OKKKKK...that was kinda ridiclous is the best way mind you. I'm really diggin the style of this and overall plot just seems bat sh*# insane. Imma go watch some Discovery Channel and remind myself what Earth is now.

The designs look neat. I'm overwhelmed with stuff to watch, but I'm going to at least make a note to check this out.

2nd episode was great. It's the first thing that I've ever seen that actually makes fan service well...kind of moot, because it treats men the same way as women. The part where the teacher's pecs just explode out of his shirt is insanely hilarious and shows that the creators of the show are doing all of the fan service-y bit in good humor, and in equal amounts.
Also, I have a bit of a phobia of cuts on my wrists (something I saw on tv as a kid scarred me for life...can't stand to have anything touch my wrists) so the fact that the heroine of the show has to cut her wrist essentially to activate her super suit makes me want to pass out but in the best way possible. I love the idea that there's a sacrifice involved with being super charged. Reminds me of how magic is supposed to work. You can't just go around casting spells...each spell you cast could come with a consequence (in well-written magic stories...for instance...there's a novel out there somewhere where each time you cast a spell, a part of your body disappears at random. Could be your head, so you'd better make sure using magic is worth it).
Anyways, this show is hitting all of my buttons. Love it.
