Like I said on facebook, I was kind of with the review up to a point, when she started saying some overtly ignorant things that extend beyond Evangelion.
Jared suggested I post it here so, this was one of my major qualms with the review: "I do think she portrayed the importance of Subjectivity as being much dumber than was necessary.
I totally believe that personal outlook IS paramount in a lot of ways. I don't think Anno said to completely DISREGARD REALITY, because the philosophy is always tackling how we interact with other people.
Though one thing I think is kind of weird is that she does praise Eva for somethings that sort of broke the mold, but then she seems to long for typical good vs. evil and the proactive protagonist kind of thing.
The absence of which actually helps further distinguish Eva from "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" that had come out recently."
I'm also up to episode 20. The obvious budget saving techniques and/or errors are my biggest complaints still.
I wanna say something about episode 19, when Eva Unit 01 devours Zeruel's S2 engine (along with a lot of Zeruel). I think I prefer this version to what happens in 2.0.
It's pretty spectacular in 2.0, but there's something slightly more disturbing and creepy about how the Eva is animated in 19 that works for me.
"We Can't Stop Here, This is Bat Country!"
