It's funny, we all agree that Sym-Bionic Titan and Thundercats both were superior shows unjustly canceled - but I remember a time when cartoons never got a lot of episodes. They have 20 and 26 episodes - heck, in the early '90s that could have been three seasons!

When does that start? I've never seen GXP, but I was a huge fan of Tenchi Muyo!, Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo.

You know, the sexualization of young teens in Eva didn't bother me when I first watched the show because I was a teen and I 'got it', you know? This was about Shinji, we see the world through his eyes, ect.
- and as a 'grown up' it still wouldn't bother me because of context, but since there's so much merchandise which trades off on the sexualization of these apparently 14 year old characters, well, it bothers me.
Oh, and I forgot how well this movie hangs together, despite being mainly a recap of those first few episodes.

The further back in time you go, the more common the "young bride" thing becomes.
This is due mostly to people not living as long as they do now.
But it also was kinda common for an older guy to marry somebody a lot younger (see Fiddler on the Roof for example).
I also gave more time to have multiple children since more people were needed for farming.
I think that Japan just kept it like that (they still do lots of farming).
Though some of it could be to try to get the population interested in actually having kids (hear it's kinda becoming a problem).
