Daicon Film's Return of Ultraman (1983)
Posted: Mon Aug 05, 2019 4:40 amWith Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi's Shin Ultraman (2021) on that way, I thought it'd be interesting to look back and discuss this impressive 1983 short film from Anno and co., a sequel/expansion of sorts to an earlier comedic short from 1980 (simply titled Hideaki Anno's Ultraman, which I don't believe is available anywhere).
Return of Ultraman however is a serious, straight faced take on Ultraman with very impressive model and miniature work. It almost feels like the pilot episode to a series that never happened, with opening credits, theme music, even a 'commercial break.'
