After the previous Gridman animated short, we will be getting another animated short from Tsuburaya at Animator Expo, this time it is a new short for the classic - The Ultraman. *Update: This is actually an animated adaption of a classic Manga also called The Ultraman.

In case anyone hasn't seen it yet:

It's very cool. I'd be all for a full-blown TV series like this.

That was an interesting look they went for, with the 60s-style character designs--there was a retro feel to the whole thing. The animation was impressive too. Hopefully they would concentrate more on the story if they turned this into a series though; a fan service-heavy bunch of fight scenes was fine for a short, but it lacked in substance.

A bit foggy on the storyline, but it looked spectacular!

The manga was translated by Viz back in the mid 90's and released as Battle of the Ultra Brothers. The anime was very faithful to the manga's style while being great on the action. I would love to see this as anime series!.

There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

That's just the opening logo for Animator Expo. Remember that this short is one in a long series of one-shots to illustrate (ha) a wide variety of artistic styles in anime.

Mike Toole of Anime News Network used the Expo short to open an article yesterday about . It's a neat read; I'd never heard of many of these shows.
