So there is apparently a KAMEN RIDER THE FIRST-style remake of Kikaider coming out in May. It's got some pretty cool suit designs. I actually REALLY dig the Hakaider design.

Hopefully it'll be a better movie than Kamen Rider the First was. XD

That Hakaider suit is awesome.

Kikaider was what got me to branch out from kaiju in the tokusatsu genre. I will always have a very special place in my heart for the original show and the character.

I love the idea of a reboot and I'm very excited that they're including the original star in it as well.

I respect the hell out of both of these designs. Kikaider feels about 90% there for me. The Freddy Krueger claw looks a little odd (his red half is supposed to be "bad" or monstrous so it makes sense...I just wish they could have been a little more subtle with it). For the most part though, I dig it.

Hakaider...there's so much that rubs me the wrong way. The head is all wrong. Now his fish bowl dome covers his eyes fully and it just looks weird (as does his mouth). His heels look feminine. The gun holster looks ridiculous. There are noticeable cloth straps circling his legs which kinds of takes away from the cyborg aesthetic and his shoulder pads are ridiculous.

I prefer the Hakaider from the 90s film, or better yet...the Kikaider and Hakaider designs from the animated series were perfect.

Still, it could have been sooooo much worse. I do like these designs, even I'm more than a little critical on Hakaider.

This looks like a faithful rendition of the classic designs done with modern materials and aesthetics.

I only hope they make SHFiguarts of Kikaider and Hakaider (and Metalder to cash in on this...)

I hope you're right about the eyes because from this view they look odd.

The heels...I could come around to as Hakaider is essentially a gunslinger from the wild west....I still prefer the overall look of Hakaider in his solo film BUT I do really like the presence of yellow in this new design. It really helps break up all the black and it's a nice throwback to the original design.


And Shin_Edda_Robo, I'm sure they'll make Figuarts of these guys before the end of the year.

TRAILER!!!! ZOMG EVERTHING LOOKS SOOOOO GOOODD!!! Any reservations I had about the suits are gone, they look amazing in motion.

The trailer was amazing! It's on my list of things I'm waiting to come to video. (Of course they have to release it in theaters first)

Funny, I was just doing a little web digging to see if I could unearth additional info on this new film... then I find new posts right here in my own back yard.

Work filters are blocking the teaser, so I'll have to wait to scope it out when I get home. As my username suggests, I'm a big fan of the original show and it's sequel series. The preliminary info and photos (awesome!) have definitely piqued my interest. I am VERY amped about this new Kikaida. Sure hope they keep it true to the spirit of the original. Cannot wait to see if they've done justice to my beloved Sidemachine!

OMG!!!!!!!!! So OK, I checked it out. Nerdgasm! Wow, does this look cool & fun. Did my eyes trick me or did I see some new "Get 'Em" guys in there, too? Definitely going to be waiting for this with rabid impatience. Does anyone know if this is going to be a regular length "movie" or one of those 45min festival length jobs? Based on the bits I saw I say let's take this to series and screw the movie!

Japan can't get it's "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" together with rebooting these properties

Should have had Keita Amemiya direct it. Everything's better with Amemiya on it!
