some of the reasons:

change of cast format (no science team, just young teens). No miniature sets, SPFX budget is extremely limited. At times it seems like a high budget fan-made series than and actual TPC production.

It's also not even trying to hide the fact it's designed to sell toys (even if I really like the concept).

I haven't watched or read much about the show but the whole premise of how everyone becomes toys seems a little to me. Wasn't there also a sentai show that used this sort of gag?
