I'd do a semi-remake of the original Ultraman show.

This time, Ultraman would be piloting a giant prison ship on route to the monster grave yard to seal away his monstrous cargo once and for all.

All of the creatures would be on the ship: Bemular, Jirass, The Baltans, Mefilas, Red King, etc.

A freak meteor shower damages the ship and it enters Earth's atmosphere where it collides with Science Patrol member Hayata's ship, killing him instantly.

The various aliens and creatures have now been freed and are roaming earth. Ultraman joins with Hayata and together with the Science Patrol, try to track down and destroy the creatures.

-The Science Patrol would still be the name of the team. All the members would have the same names ie: Captain Mura, Ito, Fuji, Arashi, Hayata.

-Pigmon would start off as being a part of the Science Patrol.

-The episodes would be mostly the same but feature some new fight dynamics and twists.

-The creature designs/suits would obviously be updated and tweaked but still remain faithful to the 1966 designs.

-The Science Patrol uniforms would retain their bright orange color and look but again, be updated and tweaked.

-The vehicles would be also be updated and tweaked but still give nods to the original designs such as the VTOL airship, etc.

I'd do a remake of "Ultra Q", but set in modern world and made for American audiences, while at the same time, not skip on the practical creature effects or giant monster rampages. I'd also take a page from "Ultra Q: Dark Fantasy" and throw in a good number of supernatural elements and science fiction perils that aren't giant-size.

If successful, we'd than go onto a straight forward "Ultraman" remake, not unlike RobD's suggestion above.

Revive Ultraman Powered and do the action right. The suit had great suits, and the sets were not bad at all. On par with the Saban Power Ranger shows of the time.

Though in updating Powered, I would send it back to America. Ultraman helping New York is a good location. Has great potential in New York.
