Let's not forget that Ishirou Honda directed several episodes of this series, including the first and last episodes! This was his first work on the Ultra Series.

This series has my personal favorite first episode for an Ultra Series ever, next to Ultra Seven! I have never, ever seen such histrionics over the death of a potential Ultraman host.

And Episode 34, "The Forgiven Life," foreshadowed Godzilla Vs. Biollante (it was written by a very young Shin'ichirou Kobayashi, who wrote the original story treatment for that film; this episode has a very Biollante-like story, too), and featured a song, "Flower, Sun, Rain," by the Japanese rock band, PYG!

Just watched Episode 3 (I have a few I'm trying to make my way through). Damn, I love this show. I loved the background concerning Gou's father, which I guess further explains his selfless nature. I liked the monster this episode more than the last, though Earthtron is still the coolest of these guys. This show is wonderful, it just...it looks good. More so than any Ultra series I've watched, the way its shot just holds up the material and the craftsmanship of everybody involved perfectly.
