ULTRAMAN SAGA - New 2012 Ultraman Movie

Postby Timz » Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:33 pm

News about a new film coming.

Link:

I don't know how the 2010 movie ended, so I don't know if there was no room open for a sequel, or if this is going to be an entirely new plot. However, I just can't forsee them not having Belial around. Belial is a pretty popular adversary right now. I don't think Tsyburaya would let their newly "reborn" heroes of Jun-bot, Glen Fire and Mirror Knight not return again. Though anything can happen. :P

With that said, I can foresee that Zero will be in it, and he isn't going very far without his dad, and no Ultra movie is complete in these times unless the first Ultraman is there as well. Father and Mother along with Taro is a great possibility as well. I would like to see some new supporting cast Ultras this time included. Ultras I would like to see more of are: Great, Powered, Max, and Jonias. Great, Max and Powered took on Belial in the City of Light, so give them a bit more expanded role this time.

EDIT: Changed thread title from "2011" to "2012" based on future information revealed and discussed in the thread.

Judging from the poster, and the trend these movies have had for the past few years, it will involve those Power Ranger knockoffs (again), will probably feature very little actual kaiju action (again), and Belial will morph into a new giant mountain of flesh (again).

Pass.

I thought the 2010 movie was fine for what it was. But this is the internet, so continue to pass judgement on things you haven't even seen.

Seriously, the Ultra series has been doing alien-centric episodes for DECADES and no one's ever bitched about it. Does a lack of "proper" giant monsters make the Baltan episodes less entertaining? Zarab's? Mephilas'? Two-thirds of Ultra Seven? Is Ultraman Nexus a lackluster series because it devotes a few episodes to nothing but Ultra Versus Dark Ultra action?

And did we somehow forget the giant army of planet-rending robots? Or do robots not count as proper monsters?

the main thing I liked about these movies is that other Ultras who had not appeared as cameos in the Mebius series can be seen again. I really liked the fact about the first movie bringing in Powered, Great, Beth, Yullian, Max and others. I liked how they handled King, as he really seemed powerful and also regal at the same time. The monsters were killed too quickly, but who knows what "laws" appeared to being reanimated in a tokusatsu movie. LOL!

I would like to see the second movie just to see how they brought in Mirror Knight, Glen Fire and Jun-Bot. Hopefully the third movie will be "the best saved for last" in this trilogy.

You know, as much as I would like - nay, prefer - to see a return to Earth and miniature cityscapes in the near future, I think it's safe to assume that the third (and presumably final) film in the Ultraman Zero trilogy will continue the space opera theme present in the last two films.
