Amazingly this is one of the few Ultraman episodes I never really sat through and watched. I own the episode on various DVDs, but can't hold my attention for long; it isn't a bad episode, but as stated, pretty standard in the franchises's predictable formula.

I will say however that I like Gubira, since he's the only 'land whale' monster that works, simply because its a step above the simple 'whale with glued legs' approach from others. Plus choosing a Narwhale as the design's basis makes for a unique look, as opposed to a more recognizable archetype, such as an Orca or Humpback Whale.

This is a pretty predictable episode. I suppose it's more solid than some Ultra episodes which have a unique concept that doesn't get to play out fully. Still, I prefer those episodes to this predictable one.

I do love that the kaiju was able to throw Ultraman's slicing disc back at him.

This one is memorable to me mainly for the fact that it's the first episode in the English-dubbed version to leave Ultraman's battle yells intact, which then continued thru the remainder of the series. Wonder why the producers/dubbers didn't just leave them intact in all of the previous episodes... and just as oddly, why they suddenly chose to leave them unmuted beginning with this episode? Strange.
