Wow... I'm not quite sure what to say...

Browsed through wikipedia -- apparantly this is from the 1992 DTV movie Shin: Kamen Rider Prologue

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin:_Kamen_Rider_Prologue

It seems like it could be interesting in the same way DC's Elseworlds stories were interesting. IE as a markely different yet self contained take on the "hero" (or in Kamen Rider's case, the franchise).

sci fi

Postby Xenorama » Thu Jul 15, 2010 12:38 pm

as long as you realize it's more sci-fi than superhero, you might like it. thought it was really boring. in the All Riders vs Shocker movie Shin gets more action in 2 minutes than in this entire movie.

but I wanted a superhero movie, and this isn't that.

The first episodes of the original KR were very horror movie like, to the point of seeming almost like Hammer productions.

It's on my wishlist of toku I'd most like to see get a region 1 treatment. Though it may be problematic since the first series was twice as long as a usual run ( 98 episodes! ). Probably too expensive and too niche to happen.

Mouth if you haven't seen Z0 then you should see that if you see anything. It is very Gothic horror, plus having sweet stop-motion animated monsters and pretty brilliant fight choreography for the time. Plus towards the end it pretty much territory!

This movie was my first exposure to Kamen Rider. My first thought after seeing it was, "Whats the big deal, this isn't that great." :? I of course found examples of the TV series that better explained why it was popular. (Ah the old days of ebay bootleg vhs tapes)

Is it this picture on the shirt? That's a really cool pic.
