According to this, Warner Japan is currently at work on a new Ultraman movie, simply titled Ultraman, and is scheduled for release in December!

This might be that movie Brad Warner mentioned a few months back!

Plot synopsis and additional information is now on SciFi Japan:

--------------

I find the "first evil Ultraman" thing kind of nonsense, but I guess TPC were just being really anal about their definition of "Ultraman" for the last 43 years.

I mean, the entire NEUXS story practically hinged on evil Ultramen. I mean, uh, "dark giants" (though I'm pretty sure Komon called Faust "kuroi urutoraman" at least once or twice.) And what about all the ones in the TIGA FINAL ODYSSEY movie? They weren't "evil clones". Weren't they technically Tiga's relatives? Do they not count either?

But Belial looks cool, in a Zagi-Tsurugi love child kind of way.

I like that they state the 3-minute timer no longer applies in this movie, as if it ever did in all the other ones!

Anyway, I'm still looking forward to checking it out in December. O-tanoshimi ni!

"The first-ever evil Ultra" thing is probably just meant to instill anticipation, since I don't know what else you'd call Dark Foust and Mephisto. They sure look like Ultras.

I'm with the "sick of the event movie" crowd, but I've always wanted to see a massive group of monsters on-screen at one time. I hope I get to see this.

New December movie features villainous Ultraman, aims for advance worldwide

"Daikaiju Battle Ultra Ginga Densetsu THE MOVIE", the new feature film of the sfx series that represents Japan, Ultraman, will be released Japan-wide from the 12th of December. The first evil Ultraman in the series' proud 43 year history will also appear in this work. The distribution will be handled by Warner Brothers Pictures, who have produced other hero movies such as Superman and Batman, making this a supreme entertainment epic that has the global market in its sights.

Ultraman, Seven, Mebius and other such Ultra Warriors of justice will also be appearing.

The story's stage is the Ultras' homeland, The Land of Light in Nebula M78. Making his first appearance is Ultraman Belial, who although an Ultran had his spirit stolen by the world of darkness and incited a revolt in the past.

Belial escapes from the prison Ultraman King sealed him in with his own hand tens of thousands of years ago and leading an army of over 100 giant monsters4, plots the destruction of the Land of Light and universal domination, but standing in his way are Ultraman, Ultraseven, and Ultraman Mebius, familiar Ultra Brothers both old and new. A number of Ultra Warriors who have not shown their forms on Earth will also be participating in the battle. Thanks to the newest image technology, the portrayal of the Land of Light will also be a major sight to see.

The director is America- and New Zealand-based director Sakamoto Koichi, who has gathered attention for his work on the American Power Ranger series. Besides Minami Shota and Mitsutoshi Shundo, who acted in Ultra Galaxy Daikaiju Battle, Ultraman's Agent Hayata, Kurobe Susumu, and Seven's Moritsugu Koji will also be involved. The movie is currently being filmed with production expected to crank up during mid-July and finish by October.

(she also disagrees with the whole "first dark Ultran" but whatever, I'm not writing the movie. I also like the fact Ultraman doesn't have that hideous "A" type face.)

Aww the A face is my favorite.
