Kouichi Takano (special FX director, former managing director of Tsuburaya Productions) died at age 73 of lung disease at 4:48AM on November 30th in a hospital in the Tokyo metropolitan area. He was a Tokyo resident. His funeral was attended by close relatives. The chief mourner was his wife Mitsue. A "farewell party" is scheduled for February 27th next year. The venue has yet to be decided.
[Takano] joined Toho in 1954. After serving as a photography assistant on movie series such as "Godzilla", he worked as a cameraman, then transferred to Tsuburaya Productions where he served as a special FX director on the Ultraman series for many years.
