I'm on a Godzilla email newsgroup and Norman England has said he was just filming scenes as an extra in a new Ultraman tv series.

Anyone have any more details?

Well I should say it won't happen for awhile.

The only thing that will bring one of the new Ultra Series to the States is for a US company to license the rights... No one is preventing anyone from licensing said rights. Tsuburaya Productions would love to license the rights to a US company.

Looks like the cat may have gotten out of the bag!

ULTRA-SEVEN X is the title of the new Ultra series. Huge original credit to Shiaz of the Ultramanlah! website! :)

Note: the below bullet points are my guesses at what the translation is of the text Shiaz posted.

I'm probably wrong on alot of the points but don't shoot the messenger! August could translate.

http://ultramanlah.com/community/index. ... c=3169.100

-This will be different "Ultra-7" character. Not the same as Ultra-7 and Ultra-7 2-1.

-Principal photography on the series started in mid June.

-Possible continuity with the "Ultraman Mebius" series?

-Possibly being co-financed by a foreign partner? A U.S. company? I can dream.

-13 episodes at a minimum though I suspect this will be a full 40+ episode series.

-The Ultraman Mebius staff is helping with the new series(though they're all Tsuburaya employees)

-Possible October Japanese television premiere for the series.

The title is ULTRASEVEN X (no hyphen). The translation on LAH! amounts to running the Japanese text through translation software. In other words, why bother? It's just convoluted. The original information came from a Japanese fan blog, and is merely speculation on the writer's part (which I will paraphrase):

•Ultraseven X seems to be a completely new character.
•It's unknown if the series is to be set in the Showa Seven, Heisei Seven or Moebius Continuity.
•Will this series be a full run, or limited to one or two cours (12-13 episodes per cours)?
•Takeshi Yagi is directing the first two episodes.
•Will director (Shusuke) Kaneko participate, even though he is currently abroad? [This was a bit fuzzy for me-AR]
•Will the MOEBIUS staff be involved?
•Will (Moroboshi) Dan appear? Perhaps not, since this is a new character.
•While the source cannot be confirmed, the series will most likely broadcast in October (the information seems official, since NEXUS also started in October).
•Cross-checking the sources, I hope this will be a full-scale production... (Especially since this comes after CBC dropped investment after the third series.)
•Also, since a Woman's magazine hinted at a possible SEVEN-motif series, all of this information seems to be plausible.

Here's the alleged Call Sheet for shooting on June 21st which was posted on "Ultraman LAH!":

Image

By looking over this call sheet, there are several character names, and also you can find that they are going to use a new Ultra Eye as the transformation device. The studio shooting at Toho Built, a scene in the White Room set on Stage 5: "Jin's Dream" (Scene 102). This scene also includes the character Erea/Elea/Alea (?).

There were also two other scenes lined up for that day at the Tokyo Gas HQ near Ariake (Scenes 237 and 236). Scene 237 featured Jin and Kei, and Scene 236 featured Jin and Aru/Al (?)—this is the area where the final battle in GODZILLA X MEGAGUIRUS was shot.

The actors listed on the call sheet include Misaki Kaga, who won a Japanese Academy Award in 2001 for "Best New Actress" for her role in PLATONIC SEX. The next actor listed is Okinawan-born Eriku Yoza, who appeared in Takashi Miike's IZO. Playing "Aru" (which I imagine is just a guest star appearance) is Toshiyuki Watarai, one of Shusuke Kaneko's repertory players, who did the motion capture and voice for Ryuku in DEATH NOTE. He also appeared in Episode 36 of ULTRAMAN MAX (as Alien Shama). Watari also provided the voice of the titular alien in Norman England's THE iDOL. The Hanging Chad, the third name down on the list of actors, I can't make out—I can't read the kanji for the Sirname because the scan is not at a high enough res. Sorry.

Who or what is the "Kikkosen"/"Kikousen" listed in the character column of the Call Sheet? Most likely, it's a character name. Kikkosen (with the same kanji) is also a word for a heavy armored warship, which comes from "turtle shell"... There's also a special effects company called Kikkosen (with the same kanji). But, I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Anyhow, I hope this helps for the time being! :D
