I haven't seen Kuuga, I'll admit. I've seen the early episodes of Black and Agito and while I'd love to give them another go, they just didn't grab me. W WAS my favorite but I think part of that was because I was just so fed up with how awful the status quo for the Heisei Riders had become (See: Kabuto-Den-O-Kiva-Decade. :puke: ) that when W came around and was actually incredibly GOOD I just latched onto that. Plus, while I liked the early episodes of W, it didn't really become favorite material until after the first quarter or third of the show and even after that there were still a few bones I had to pick with the show despite loving it so much (glares at Akiko).
Fourze, by contrast, has basically done no wrong thus far in my book. I love all the characters and the plots, the school setting is fun, the action and cinematography has been great (thank you, Sakamoto!) - the biggest negative I've had so far is the pacing for episode 11 was a little weird but I still enjoyed it! The comic relief has been perfect - not stupid and overstated like Toei's humor typically aims for. And I LOVE the space theme. I'm a major proponent of space exploration and the state it's been in lately is heart-breaking so making a show that pimps it out so hardcore is ace! But I think the biggest factor for why I love it so much is the sincerity of the relationships it portrays. In other rider shows there are plenty of moments where I'm all "OH MAN, THAT WAS BADASS!" or "JESUS, THAT WAS COOL!" during the action scenes but in Fourze, though the action scenes are pretty awesome, I find myself fist-pumping and saying, "F*CK YEAH, FRIENDSHIP!" a whole lot more and that's a wonderful thing to me.
That's actually a big part of the reason why it makes such good back-to-back viewing with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which, by the way, you ought to WATCH before you add it to your list of my baffling tastes. It's a fantastic show.
