There is indeed a precedent set for fantasy in the Ultraverse. One of the mandates for Ultra Q was to include occasional fantasy episodes so it goes way back to the begining.

I suppose my problem, is that for a film, it's just not what I want to see. If this were a tv series, and they went off into space for a few episodes I'd be ok with that, but as big screen adaption of Ultraman it just doesn't work for me.

While fantasy has always been a part of the Ultra verse it rarely, if ever, is ever the primary focus of a series. You might get a few fantasy episodes in a series but its always an Ultraman series first and foremost revolving around kaiju, Science Patrol teams ect.

Well I, for one, am extremely thankful to have gotten the movie we did. It may not jive with you but the diversity of the Ultra series is probably one of my biggest reasons for being a fan and this movie adds a wonderful new layer to the already sprawling Ultraverse.

And again, Ultraman Taro is a series devoted almost entirely to the fantasy aspect of the franchise so it's not like they haven't embraced it on such a large scale before. I'm glad to see it's still present in such force.

Eh, I'm not going to keep dissing it. It's your thing. As much as I love Ultraman/Ultra Q I'm not the fan that you are of it, so if you found something to like in it then I'm all for it. I feel the same way about Gamera the film Gamera the Brave...a lot of people trash because it's not all dark like G3 but I love it, and G3. I like that Gamera has that sort of diversity, though I prefer more films like GTB. Anyways, I understand your side of things even if I don't share it.

I kind of felt like it lacked scope at times too. It was wierd, you'd have these huge, planetary things happening yet it didn't feel as epic as the previous movie for some reason.

Rumor has it that a new short teaser may be airing with the next episode of Ultraman Retsuden!

WHO'S EXCITED?!

Oh. Right. Just me. THAT'S OKAY.
