What's really sad about this trailer is how much it reeks of desperation on TPC's part. It's all, "LOOK, AKB48! DAIGO! Ultraman Cosmos! Takeshi Tsuruno! DYNA! AKB48! " Given the downward slide of box office returns on the post-Super 8 films, it does make a certain bit of sense, I guess, but it's still terribly sad to see. I still have full faith in director Hideki Oka and writer Keiichi Hasegawa to make a solid film, however, and hopefully the full theatrical trailer will be as slick as the last three films' have been.

That video really didn't do much for me. If anything, the movie looks "cheaper" than ever before. I agree with Kiryu that it's rather depressing to see what this franchise has become when we know what it could be.

I do like the minature work though. Very nice.

*shrug*

Yes, it sucks that the casting is a cash grab but it could still work within the film itself if Oka directs them well enough and Hasegawa does a great job on the script (the writer of GMK, Ultraman the Next, and Super 8 Ultra Brothers isn't a bad deal at all!).

I dunno, this film seems really cool to me still. I love that we're letting low-tier monsters have a spot in the limelight instead of more obvious picks, I like that we're back to Earth (and miniatures!) but with the twist being that it's an Earth that's already in the clutches of evil, and while the inclusion of AKB48 makes me raise an eyebrow, I actually love the concept of an all-girl, ragtag defense team. Sue me. :P

And no, not everything Ultraman is good.

On a side note, I love the color correction they've done for Alien Bat's scene here:

I suspect there's still a chance I may ultimately prefer Ultraman Zero the Movie to this one purely in terms of story but I'm liking the look of this film a lot.
