I think the whole thing about GUYS knowing Mirai was Ultraman was ultimately pointless. Nothing really changed, no one treated Mirai any differently. There was some good storytelling potential there that seemed to go to waste. It would have been interesting to explore xenophobia when they suddenly realise they've been duped by an alien, to some extent (ultimately realizing it doesn't matter whether he's an alien or not, of course.) Maybe it's too deep for the kids. A shame, because the genre is the perfect platform for these kind of messages, and it's the best way to teach kids about this stuff without sending them to sleep in school (IMHO!) Revealing Mirai's identity mid-way seemed like the perfect setup.
I'm not slamming the show, I just think there were some missed opportunities. Maybe they're not the sort of thing you think about until you step back and look at the whole thing in retrospect, though.
