The Basics: Hayata disappears and mysterious things start happening after the Patrol is introduced to Anne from the Paris branch.
The Plot: A bit too ambitious for the half hour time slot. A LOT goes unexplained. My main gripe is that the underground dwellers want to live in the light finally, but yet they can't tolerate it. Uh...okay...that makes a hell of a lot of sense. Also the minimalist way in which this is shot doesn't suggest an underground civilization advanced enough to conquer the world really. And they seem to know how Hayata's capsule works..they even call it a "Flashbeam" but don't think it's going to give off a lot of light? Okay then.
Tha Kaiju: Telesdon looks decent and has a cool roar(also used for Gyango I think) that makes him memorable. On the other hand, he's pretty wimpy. Ultraman basically just beats the snot out of him. He doesn't even have to use his powers.
The Acting: A mixed bag, but nothing too embarassing. The actress playing Anne seems a bit stiff, but beyond that...no worries.
The SPFX: Some good city destruction in this one. The night setting I think enhances this one. Budget limitations clearly kept them from showing us well....anything of the underground civilization. The eye patches covering their eyes were so obvious that it's better for those watching to just assume that's what they are rather than imagine they don't have eyes(which I think was the original intent).
The Other Stuff: Since the bad guys have a mind control device, they probably could have controlled multiple monsters...or at least monsters tougher than Telesdon. Also, what is that big spiky protrusion on Telesdon's back? Does it serve a purpose? How did Anne escape the Patrol and get back down underground to interrogate Hayata so quickly?(Almost no time passes between these scenes. I'll blame bad editing.)
