"I'm sorry, but it seems like your 'statement of fact' is, itself, rather huffy and condescending."
It wasn't; and there's no reason for me to lie. You of all people should know better about one's perception of
inference with
prejudice vs. the
actual intent of the author. But, I can hardly expect to receive that kind of latitude here. Am I to be presumed guilty because I am evil incarnate? (These are all rhetorical.) I am a bad, bad man, after all. I even kicked an old lady in a wheelchair down a flight of stairs yesterday, while I said, "Arrivederci, baby."
Moving on. You're right, why would someone put in "ultraman" and "roppongi" into a search engine if they didn't know about this beforehand? My bad (because I am evil, after all). But, with that being said, there was a lot of buzz about the event on several sites, including UltramanLAH, before it even opened, so there was already open discussion -- in English -- on a heavily trafficked Ultraman site. I'm just saying...
Now, to add something constructive to the topic, "original props, artwork, and memorabilia from the first three Ultra series (ULTRA Q, ULTRAMAN, and ULTRA SEVEN), many of which have are being shown to the public for the very first time."
Most of these items on display at Roppongi have already been on public display before -- I'm just saying -- perhaps not all together like this (but not from what I've seen, and I've seen these on public display as I attended several of the events listed below). BTW, all of the monster suits and some of the Ultraman heads on display, are recreations and are not originals.
There have been numerous exhibitions of Tohl Narita's artwork and props (before and since his passing), many costumes and props are featured in the annual Ultraman Festivals at the Ikebukuro Sunshine Building, and then you have last year's "Legend of Ultraman Exhibition" at Taro Okamoto Museum (which combined many of these elements -- similar to their "Since Godzilla" exhibition). There was also an Ultraman Exhibit at the Setagaya Literary Museum (as part of the Setagaya Film Festival) in 2006, which contained original costumes, props and production designs.
(FYI, there were also the "OBJECTS: The Imagination of Ultra" exhibits in 2004 and 2006, which featured beautiful photographs of the original props and costumes from the first three series. This event, which also spawned a book, was put together by renown effects artist, Tomoo Haraguchi.)
BTW, here's some video from the last year's Ikebukuro Ultraman Festival on You Tube:
