Favorite Heisei Ultraman Series

Hey, why not? :)

I left out Zearth, Nice, and Dark Fantasy and just kept full series starring an Ultraman. Narrows it down a bit...

I have to pick Mebius (or Moebius, which sounds cooler but apparently isn't official) for its great amount of fun but also its great mix of that and some darker story elements from time to time. Plus it has Ultraman Hikari, the Ultra Brothers, and Semi-Frequent appearances by UltraFather! Top it off with a great cast of characters and some awesome monsters with lots of personality (see: Reflect Seijin), and you've got yourself an awesome show!

Behind that is Max, followed by Nexus.

So my list'd be like this:

Mebius
Max (FUN!)
Nexus (Great story)
Gaia (Pretty nifty show, feels pretty epic)
Tiga/Dyna (Haven't seen enough of Dyna, but Tiga's got some really great moments mixed with some really dull ones. Also, lots of it feels kind of dated. But it has Rena, so I'm not complaining.)
...
Cosmos (Not as bad as some people say but I can't STAND the characters. Omg.)

I chose Ultraman Max. I thought it was fantastic and great fun. An awesome tribute to the old lensed through the eyes of the new. And with guys like Takashi Miike, Shusuke Kaneko, and Akio Jissoji doing episodes, it just couldn't go wrong!

I like Nexus as much as the next guy but the "soap opera" type storytelling gets tiring for a show like this. It would have made a much better movie (like Ultraman the Next, which was awesome). But Nexus gets major points for having great writing and originality.

I haven't seen many of the 90s shows. Just Tiga, which I've only seen several episodes from and the Ultraman Gaia movie, which was fun but nothing special. I love the Zearth movies, but those aren't beinc included.

I haven't seen Mebius yet, but it looks great.

Y'know, no one mentioned ULTRAMAN NEOS -- maybe with good reason! :P

True, true... I was just thinking of the major series when I made the thread, though! :P
