About the Ultraman Neos TV Pilot...

Postby Enshohma » Thu Jan 26, 2006 12:44 am

I have two questions concerning "Ultraman Neos" that I can't find on any of the sites, Ultraman Archive included. First off, outside Zamm-seijin, what was the name of the other monster that appeared in the 1996 TV pilot?

A quick description; he was a long necked quadruped with a dragon like shape and large red crystal coming from his chest region and did not show up in the 12 episode long video series in 2001.

Secondly, did Neos and his buddy Ultraseven 21 appear first in that aforementioned 1996 TV pilot, or in live stage shows before then?

And finally, is the pilot available on any official DVDs or was it just a one time airing and has since then not been shown again?

Hey dude, how's it going? I hope life's been treating you right.

I can't answer your first quesiton, but i found the answer to the second one: taken from the ultraman faq http://home.cfl.rr.com/ultrafaq/Ultraman-FAQ.html :

Ultraman Neos and his companion, Ultraseven 21, were created not for a specific television series or movie, but for an amusement park show (there was a rumor of plans for a show featuring Ultraman Neos and Ultraseven 21, but that show has not yet materialized as of this writing).

so they started off doing live stage shows.

Sorry I can't answer the rest of them, but at least it's a start.

I think Neos and Seven 21 were introduced in the "Ultraman Legend" stage show that took place in 1995.

The pilot was also made in 1995, but it was only an 8-10 minute long video pitch to the network and was not intended for broadcast. As far as I know it was never aired. The network passed because they felt NEOS was just more of the same, so Tsuburaya went with the "three stage" Ultraman concept for ULTRAMAN TIGA the following year.

The dragon-like monster from the ULTRAMAN NEOS pilot was named Drengelan.
