For lack of a better place to post about this upcoming biopic, I'm posting in this forum. I'm surprised that no one has posted about this upcoming movie about Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy which takes place during their 1953 British Tour. Steve Coogan is playing Stan Laurel and John C. Reilly is playing Oliver Hardy.

The Entertainment One trailer was released back in September:

And Sony picked up North American distribution and released their own trailer on November 21st:

Sony's trailer is a little different from Entertainment One's, worth watching both. Sony's website for the movie says there will be US premieres in New York and Los Angeles on December 28th, but currently does not list a general release date.

I love Laurel and Hardy, and I love John C Reilly... but I have a bit of trepidation watching a biopic of two men I regularly see real footage of. Know what I mean? It weirds me out just a bit. Maybe I'm just not a biopic person.

But from what I've read it's getting good reviews, fans seem to like it, and I guess I'll have to get over my trepidation.

Well, I believe John C. Reilly did get nominated for a Golden Globe for this movie. Oscar chances, I don't think are there however.

I did see some YouTube reactions to this and while most were fairly positive of the trailer, the discouraging part was that several did not even seem to know who this duo were! Maybe this film will open up some eyes.
