I guess CBS is hoping this will keep people subscribed to All Access this time. CBS never released numbers about the subscriptions for the service with Star Trek: Discovery (they just claimed highest sign up rates since the Grammies earlier in the year). However people suspect that CBS:AA may have seen equally high unsubcriber rates as in the month following ST:D's premier CBS was running a variety of sign-up sales/deals that they were not running before.

Happy that Peele's in charge, and happy he'll be hosting as well!

I'm on-board for Peele's Twilight Zone, but I don't love the idea of just remaking other stories....ESPECIALLY that one. It's been done a LOT.

^ Alternatively, the fact that it's been done so well twice kind of alleviates the pressure from it, right? If it had just been an iconic episode of the original it would have seemed blasphemous, but since Twilight Zone: The Movie did it so well again there's already a precedent for multiple versions that people are okay with.

The Simpsons also did it.
And it's also been referenced and parodied dozens of other times in pop culture.
It's less that it seems blasphemous and more that there doesn't seem to be much of a point.

I hope to see this series appear on the regular CBS channel. I can't afford CBS All Access.

Since Mr. Peeple doesn't feel the need to ever cast a white person in a lead role then I'll be skipping anything he does.
And judging by the first review, I'm not missing much.

I brought it up because Peel brought it up, very publicly. He's making an issue out of it; clearly stating his intentions to essentially use reverse racism to 'combat' the very injustice he's upset about... like two wrongs make a right?!? So apparently you all agree that his reverse racism tactic is okey-dokey? It just smacks of hot-topic button-pushing and frankly smells like nothing more than a lowbrow free publicity gimmick.
I figured it was a fair topic of rational discussion. Yet hot-headed Kain resorts to cursing like a schoolyard bully and then lhb412 'jokes' by thinly insinuating that I'm basically a white supremacist/Nazi, like the founders of Shocker. Neither one of you know ANYTHING about me but arrive at that conclusion because ____??? Nowhere in my brief post did I stoop to frothy ranting or using slurs or anything else so base or vile. I just posted my feelings on the matter, and my intention to not buy into Peel's apparent attempt to whack the racial tension hornet's nest with further hate-mongering - regardless of who started it - by quietly voting with my wallet, so to speak... but I'M the bad guy? Really?!? Very, very disappointing folks.

For those that might have missed it (I did, before looking it up after reading the comments), this is what Jinzo is referring to:
I wish I knew the full context of the quote, from his tone to what he could have been responding to. But as written it just seems vindictively exclusive to me. And perhaps a little ironic for a guy whose new series is on a platform called "All Access." But hey, they're his decisions to make and if he continues to make good to great movies I'll continue to be interested in his creative output. I just don't happen to agree with that statement.
Am I going to boycott this series because of it? No. In truth, I likely won't be seeing any of this series for quite a while because, like Kain, I have no intention to pay a monthly fee for CBS's platform just to watch a Star Trek series I'm not crazy about and this new version of Zone. I already subscribe to Netflix, YouTube TV, Amazon Prime, etc. I don't want to add another $6-10 for two shows that I'm not likely to be crazy about.

Come on, is it really that hard to grasp?
I think "I've seen that movie" gives more than adequate context for what he's trying to say. Peele has been on the record since his first movie saying that he's trying to correct a historical imbalance in that black audiences in America have always loved horror movies yet horror movies very rarely did well by their black, and by extension the black audience. There are exceptions, of course, which he has also gone on the record about (in fact, you can see him as one of the talking heads in the new documentary about black horror on Shudder), including giving praise to maybe not so well-regarded films like Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight. He's also given criticism to films he loves that offered better representation but were still sonewhat flawed or stereotypical in their presentation.
In essence, he's trying to edit black people back into what he sees as an important genre for black people. I'm a sucker for an artist having a grand guiding-light. I wonder if it means I'll try to hit as many sub genres of horror as he can in his career?

Super appreciate the clarification here, so I feel a bit late to the party, but I was baffled by the explosively negative reaction I saw here. What exactly is so wrong about appealing to a different dimension of horror that has been historically underutilized? The man can’t move in his own unique direction? Why does he “have” to make a film starring a white male actor in the first place? For all we know, his experience as a black man might leave him feeling inadequate to direct such a leading role, focusing more on what directly relates to him.

So the first episode was free to watch on YouTube, so I did. It was good, but it did not need to be 55 minutes long. It would have been fine at 30. Nevertheless, it was enjoyable and Tracy Morgan was just all kinds of badass in the small role he had. Looking forward to seeing more, but I'm not paying for another streaming service to watch it. I'll either just torrent it or wait for it to come out to BD and rent it.
