I think the greatest thing about MST3K is that, despite being built on mocking, at it's core it's actually gentle. I don't think anyone can watch the Final Sacrifice episode and not come out with a pure, unironic love of the character of Zap Rowsdower, for instance.
From what I've heard, Bruce Mitchell wasn't just good at playing Canada's ultimate shotgun-toting, beer-swilling, mullet-having hero but also just a nice guy in real life.

There will be another guy who will be missed by his fans. It's the first time that I learned about it.
