Inspired by this , let's talk about the many other giant ape/gorilla movies that aren't King Kong, some of which are...
Japanese King Kong (1933)
King Kong Appears in Edo (1938)
Mighty Joe Young (1949, 1998)
Konga (1961)
Queen Kong (1976)
A*P*E (1976)
The Mighty Peking Man (1977)
Yeti: Giant of the 20th Century (1977)
King of the Lost World (2005)
Banglar King Kong (2010)

Well, the original Mighty Joe is a total classic, and the remake is a childhood favorite of mine that's worth watching due to Rick Baker's wonderful gorilla effects (a do-over for his work in the '76 Kong, which he wasn't satisfied with).
A*P*E has frightened me off from the lower tier rip-offs. I have seen Konga because it's on the double feature disc with Yongary, and it's okay as a Michael Gough mad scientist movie and unfulfilling as a gorilla monster movie. I hear Peking Man is worth watching.

^Hrrrmmm... wouldn't be the first time the Cooper Estate/Devito side of things tried to get their own Kong film and TV projects off the ground, but eventually it may happen!

With the TV pilot/series, Stacy Title has been talking about this for a little while, we found stuff from her Bye Bye Man publicity tour and an AMA on Reddit from 2-3 months ago, and apparently she was talking with people about it at Monsterpalooza (this past weekend) what was weird about this was things that have been posted about it are being removed from the internet. We found two clear examples of this and tried to contact the authors, ABB was able to reach one and was told they were requested to take it down by a Marketing firm. Also an older reference was to a pilot and the most recent one was to a TV series (not sure if thats considered interchangeable or if that indicates a green light)

^It's hard to imagine a TV series about giant monsters being sustainable due to budget. If the current Kong of Skull Island comic is some sort of dry run for a TV series I think it'd be more like a tropical Game of Thrones with only occasional appearances (once an episode?) from the monsters.

I haven't been a fan of the Boom comic. I was actually disappointed when they changed it from a 6 issue mini to a running series

Mighty Peking Man is a lot of fun....just uhh....don't pay too close attention to the animal action or it'll crush your soul (spoiler tags added for decorum: )
Konga is really fun too, as a mad scientist movie and Michael Gough is really awesome in it.
Mighty Joe Young is baller, and the remake is solid...I think it's a bit too DISNEY to click with most people (overly melodramatic and schmaltzy) but it's got good effects and it's pretty fun.
I've only seen snippets of Queen Kong and A*P*E, but they were horrifyingly bad, and I wouldn't want to watch the movies without a bunch of alcohol and friends.
