End of an era. He was the primary host of TCM since it's inception 23 years ago, so for one or two generations he's been the ambassador of classic films to the modern day. I love the concept of movies being hosted, having this MC figure give you a little setup before the show starts, and Robert Osborne will always be the best of all the hosts. He was a superfan who got to make his fandom a career, with long friendships with many Hollywood greats (his BFF Olivia de Havilland survives him at 100 years of age) and to me he always radiated class, a total gentleman.

Very sad news to hear. Before TCM, I remember Robert Osborne as a T.V. and film critic for KTTV Channel 11, here in So. Cal. back in the day.

TCM had planed to show Godzilla, X From Outer Space and King Kong among others on March 23rd. With Robert's death, don't know if that schedule will still stand as they will obviously have a tribute for him, showing his favorite movies, on a certain date. Frankly, they can move our movies any time.

TCM's gonna do a two day (March 18 and 19) marathon of the dozens of long-form interviews Robert did throughout his tenure as host:

I hope they can whip up another tribute later showing his favorite films, maybe featuring intros from his entire 23 years as host.
