So queue JellyD's defense that Adi Shankar's gritty r-rated cartoon based on a classic cheesy game targeted at children is satire  ?

His Power Rangers short was satire....because it wasn't HIS...it was written and directed by Joseph Kahn, who's a satirist.

^ Thats a nice theory as long as you ignore everything Shankar said about it

I just don't see how this can even work. Plus, there better be an episode where the main character spends the entire episode trying to get past Medusa heads but keeps getting knocked down the stairs by them. Oh yeah, and "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" Konami!

One of the most iconic things about Castlevania was its amazing music, since back in the 8 bit days it was very rare to get a full musical composition, these themes translated well until gaming systems could produce actual musical scores. If this series does not have any of the iconic CV music, its going to be a hard sell for me, no matter how pretty it looks

The VHS aesthetic in the beginning of that promo is really cool.

Wtf is this series?! Its only 4 episodes which only function to introduce the 4 main characters. It also tries to derive humor from people getting kicked in the crouch (at least 3x) but also revels in talking about bestiality, lingering shots of disemboweled children and dead babies. Plenty of nods to the video game despite Belmont spending more time fighting priests than the monsters. Just like the plot, the animation varies wildly in quality, though it seems to get better as it goes.

It seems more like a pilot than a season if only because they establish the premise and introduce the characters...and then its over.

I liked what I saw in this series. I just feel like it ended in a weird spot. Not really a cliffhanger or a conclusion. It felt like there was supposed to be 8 more episodes. Some of the dialogue was a little cringey as well.

I thought I had post my entire thoughts on this... prologue, but I guess not. I thought it was meh. If it weren't for the fact that it is called Castlevania, I would probably not return. The voice acting was hit or miss, the animation was subpar more often than not, and it felt like it was gratuitous for the sake of it. Oh, and the music was kind of a let down consider how awesome it was in the trailer.
