From M. Night Shyamalan....and everyone tuned out...

BUT DON'T

Seriously. Don't tune out on this just because it's M. Night. For starters, it's good unto itself. It is much like his earlier films where there's no requirement for a twist for the film to work. If you have made it this far without it being spoiled, check it out. It works as a movie about a guy who has multiple split personalities and abducts three girls and is "saving" them to be devoured by his 'ultimate' personality, known as The Beast. It works. Trust me. You get to see James MacAvoy doing a whole bunch of personalities, and he kills it, and Anya Taylor Joy, from The Witch is proving herself to be a good actress and her character has a great backstory that ties into the plot really intelligently.

But when the shoe finally drops on the movie...KABAM! I was wholly unprepared and it was amazing. If AT ALL POSSIBLE, see this movie before it gets spoiled, because I can't remember the last time a movie had a final couple minutes that filled me with such incredible excitement as the end of this movie.

I've heard his last film was pretty good, too. It seems M. Night works better when he's laser-focused on smaller scale stories.

Just had to share a funny experience. I'm really neutral when it comes to M. Night. I don't go out of my way to see his films, but if I run across them, and they seem interesting, I'll give it a watch. The only one I've seen in the theater was Signs, and I didn't know it was one of his films until after I saw it...

Anyway, my boss claims to be a HUGE fan of his etc...she saw Split in the theater and loved it (I haven't seen it yet, will probably wait until it hits Redbox, but I pretty much know the whole story).

But the kicker is this...

Added a spoiler tag for those who have yet to see the film -mod.
